Who runs Company H, 1st Maryland Infantry?
The company bylaws define the structure of the unit. Fundamentally, there are two bodies that operate in tandem to ensure that the unit is
managed properly on the field and during the off-season. Working together, they work hard to provide an enjoyable experience for all our
members.
The Executive Board is the body that handles the administrative duties of the unit. The members of the Executive Board are elected for two
year terms and are responsible for running the unit meetings, publishing the unit newsletter, contact with other units and their events,
maintaining our non-profit organization status, reviewing membership applications, the unit website and other behind-the-scenes activities.
The Military Officers of the unit direct activities when the unit is in the field. The Captain and 1st Sergeant are elected every other year by the
general membership. The rest of the military command structure is appointed by them based on length and quality of service, attendance to
unit events, authenticity, knowledge, and other contributions.
Ultimately, the answer to the question, Who runs Company H, 1st Maryland Infantry?, is a simple one. All the members working
together run the company. Major issues are voted on by the general membership, as well as bylaws amendments and elections. Every
member of the unit is treated as an equal partner in the operation of our unit.
